Here at UVW we are deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden and untimely passing of David Graeber. He was a wonderful man with a brilliant mind and an unwavering commitment to fighting from the bottom up for a better, fairer world.
For us at UVW he will be well remembered for his support for our victorious in-housing cleaner’s strike at the LSE – where he worked as a professor. True to his commitment to direct action he stood with us in solidarity as we occupied, marched, protested and picketed the LSE over the course of several months. He was the only senior academic staff member to do so, though some other academic and administrative staff also offered their solidarity.
These photos show him at one of the protests calling for the reinstatement of a sacked cleaner called Alba – who was later reinstated, and standing in solidarity in the occupied building of the LSE’s big bosses.
