I have a bullshit job? (in Catalan)
This short article discusses the concept of a “bullshit job,” inspired by a comment from the author’s daughter who told him that he has one. He reflects on this observation and explains that he does his job because someone has to take responsibility for waste management—since individuals and companies often fail to act as they should. He ends the article by questioning why this failure occurs, concluding that as long as it continues, he will still have a “bullshit job.”
Ignasi Puig Ventosa: He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and is one of the founders of the ENT Foundation. In the past, he was a professor at UAB, an environmental advisor to the Spanish Congress of Deputies, and an external researcher for the OECD.
Comments by DGI volunteer Pere Carrillo Camps:
I find it interesting because, in just a few words, he feels the need to justify his work. This is especially relevant considering who he is and his contributions to environmental issues. It’s yet another example of David Graeber’s influence.
