David Graeber - Michel Foucault and Ethnography
The Gun Has No Trigger: Conversations on Resistance in the 21 st Century is a project curated by Aztlan. The project consisted of two conversations that took place in Brussels and London, at Bozar and The Royal College of Art, respectively. The conversations were made up of conferences and panel/rountable discussions with Julien Cadoret, Lieven de Cauter, Laurent Deveze, Kendell Geers, David Graeber, Doreen Mende, Nina Power, Daniel van der Velde.
In this short section of a longer lecture, David Graeber critiques a facet of Foucaultian thought (which is not in the work of Foucault himself but circulates in his name)- the idea that knowledge is only an instrument of power, rather than also being a means of tempering power by knowing how it ticks.
