Rebel Cities: From the Right to the City to the Urban Revolution
Verso Books and The Center for Place, Culture and Politics present a conversation with David Graeber and David Harvey. Hosted by Audrea Lim.
David Graeber and David Harvey discuss their new books, Debt: The First 5000 Years, and Rebel Cities. Respectively two of the foremost theorists of Marxist geography and the Occupy movement, Harvey and Graeber’s conversation touched on Murray Bookchin, El Alto’s 2003 and 2005 uprisings, the explosion of Chile’s student movement just last year, the commons, inclusive versus exclusive hierarchies, the hidden history of US “democracy,” alternatives to capitalism and, of course, Occupy Wall Street.
