Revolution in Rojava: A Democratic Politics for an Ecological Future Sponsored by Emergency Committee for Rojava What will happen to Rojava in northeastern Syria now that ISIS has been defeated by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces? The Emergency Committee for Rojava presents a report by journalist and author Debbie Bookchin, who has just returned from the autonomous region, and LSE anthropology professor David Graeber, author of Bullshit Jobs, and Debt: The First 5,000 Years. Topics include: why it is critical to defend this feminist, ecological, democratic project from Turkey and from the Assad regime; why the Kurds and Rojava must be represented in peace negotiations; and the need for global assistance in dealing with the thousands of captured ISIS fighters and their families. The event is moderated by Ozlem Goner, a professor at the College of Staten Island and author of the book Turkish National Identity and Its Outsiders: Memories of State Violence in Dersim. The event took place on April 22, 2019 at Hagop Kevorkian Center, NYU.SHOW LESS
